Learning from the UK’s Telecoms Security Act
The UK has implemented the Telecommunications (Security) Act, arguably at the cutting edge of telecoms security legislation globally. Stuart Lyle will share experiences of working with, and implementing, the Act within a large Tier 1 Provider, and highlight the value of collaboration and sharing, across multiple aspects of the legislation and beyond.
Stuart Lyle is the ‘Senior Manager for Security Liaison & Industry Collaboration’ at BT Group, bringing together stakeholders across the UK and internationally to strengthen telecoms security.
He stewards BT’s Cyber Security Standards Roadmap and leads on engagement with bodies such as NCSC, Ofcom, GSMA, ETSI, NICC and more. Additionally, Stuart serves as the principal authority on the Telecommunications (Security) Act within BT Group, guiding the organisation to adherence. A Distinguished Engineer within the BT Tech Fellowship, he is known for pragmatic, outcomes focused industry collaboration. He champions sharing of knowledge and experience at strategic level and intelligence at operational level. Beyond BT, Stuart is a trustee and board secretary at the Breck Foundation, advancing online safety education and public policy. He is a Chartered Engineer, Chartered IT Professional and Fellow of both the BCS and the ITP and is additionally a member of the Chartered Institute of Information Security Professionals.
